Y enny Cocq is a Santa Fe-based artist who creates beautiful minimalist sculptures. So far there is no German publisher of Yenny Cocq sculptures, but we hope that soon her sculptures will be available directly in Germany.

Mostly Yenny's figures have no arms and facial features and are reduced to the minimum. What is striking here is that the upper body of the figures is flat and the shape of the body is only hinted at. Miniscule differences can be detected, which help the viewer to classify the sculpture: The upper body of female sculptures is shaped like an hourglass, suggesting the typical "X" of the female body. The male sculpture is adapted to the "Y"-like physique: Proportionally large figures and broad shoulders. Additionally, the feminine head is rounded, oval-shaped, while the masculine appears square.

In fact, many do not recognize masculine and feminine features in Cocq's sculptures.

Yenny's figures can be grouped together and further expanded to form a larger ensemble - the typical goal here is a family. It is important to the artist that one can play with the figures, matching them to your mood. The figures can be placed in such a way that they appear integrative or repellent.

Thus, a family can adapt the sculpture family to their mood in a few simple steps.

The artist also lets us know the age of the figures, through their status in the family. The parents or adults cross their legs, while young adults are almost as tall as the parents but do not cross their legs. The younger the figure, the smaller it appears, allowing the viewer to build their own family: Parents, teenagers, children, babies, pets, and even deceased family members impersonated by angel figures.

Most of the time the base for the figures is chosen by the buyers themselves, but if that's not the case, the artist herself looks for the stones in her home and includes them in the sculptures.

Yenny's work is about love and family unity. Through her art, she expresses the human body reduced to geometric shapes and uses simple body language to express an emotion or idea. Her family and small couple sculptures share a sense of connection, togetherness, and vulnerability, which is why the viewer remembers their own experiences and perceptions with family, friends, and lovers.

S teve Tandy is a British artist who paints animals in different environments. In doing so, he follows the principle that "art should make us laugh or smile" - and strives to achieve both in his artworks.

Although humor plays an important role in Tandy's work, the artist also incorporates current controversies and culture into his work. Since this artist works primarily with animals, he incorporates elements of species extinction, natural habitat change, and climate change in his works. For example, Tandy paints a polar bear on the beach in Miami Beach or a tiger walking in snowy New York. Mainly, the artist displays animals that are threatened by extinction in his paintings: Predatory cats, polar bears, penguins, and pandas.

The key thought hereto: "Maybe one day it will be like this, who knows?"

Presumably, the greatest influence on Steve Tandy is films, music, and icons of all sorts. Often, while painting, he leaves movies or music running in the background. At this point, the movies are usually already so familiar to him that the artist can speak along with the lines - which influences the titles of his work. One example is "Feel the Need", inspired by Tom Cruise's famous line "Feel the need, the need for speed" from 'Top Gun'.

Another painting is based on "The Wild One" with Marlon Brando.

In fact, the animals in Tandy's paintings often imitate famous actors or icons. Nevertheless, it is important to the artist that the animals do not appear too human - even though they may appear to ride a motorcycle, for example, they still do look realistic. This is why Tandy often uses animals that can show facial expressions similar to those of humans: Bears, cats, penguins. That's also why the animals do not wear clothes or accessories.

The animals symbolize the character of the icon - not their appearance.

The artist often embeds animals into well-known settings: 5ft Avenue, Wall Street, Venice, Hollywood, San Francisco, and Rome. In fact, Tandy visited most of these places and was seeking a suitable location to integrate in his paintings. he then takes photos, which are ultimately processed into paintings. Only seldomly does he choose the location before the animal that he embeds in the artwork. The environment and vegetation are chosen at a later stage. The tangible image emerges only during the painting process; further details often only develop during the painting process and are gradually refined through it.

Other works of Tandy were inspired by James Bond movies, for example "Licensed to Chill".

A nna Gammans is a British artist who paints beautiful landscapes and cityscapes. Particularly places situated on the Italian coast, such as Amalfi and Santorini, but also famous architectural works are depicted in her paintings.

Gammans visited most of the places which are depicted in her paintings - even the paintings showing a sunset were personally observed by the artist. Her goal is to depict natural phenomena as realistic as possible, and thus more authentic than in photographs. Thereby colors play a special role.

Among other things, colors and color combinations are one of the main sources of inspiration for the artist.

She tries to represent these in her paintings as accurately as possible.

Also, the colors reflect, at least unconsciously, the feelings associated with the moment. Although the artist does not actively try to incorporate these feelings into her works, especially positive and happy feelings seem to shine through the paintings. Gammans wants the viewer to feel happy and relieved when looking at her paintings. The painting itself also contributes to this:
Easily recognizable symbols for each location (for example, the city of Santorini) are meant to evoke the feelings associated with that particular place.

Gammans also puts a high focus on reflection and the reflection of light. These help her make the images more vivid and active. In addition, this detail is better imprinted in the memory of the viewer and is a generally considered "beautiful" symbol.

In Anna Gammans' paintings, the color pink is particularly emphasized.Since pink immediately strikes people and seems to be burned into memory, this color helps to make it easier for the viewer to understand and look at the image.

Of particular interest is the transformation of modern cities, dominated by dark colors, into pink, dazzling streets and bodies of water.In almost every picture there is an abstract part. N atasha Barnes is a South African artist who paints beautiful abstract paintings.

Natasha grew up in South Africa and was influenced by South Africa's landscape, wildlife and vegetation since childhood: she sold her first painting when she was only seven years old. Barnes' mother encouraged her to continue painting - yet the artist initially became a cook.

For years, Natasha considered painting only a hobby, until she finally decided to make a living from it. In fact, the artist often uses kitchen tools to make her paintings. These tools help the artist create certain shapes and lines, and then proceed to paint the picture.

Barnes paints on huge white paper surfaces. These are hung on a wall, on the floor, or placed on a table.Now the painting process begins. In fact, the artist varies her colors and shapes according to client: different countries - different colors.Once the painting appears finished, it is removed from the wall, floor or table.Now it is looked at, and the artist decides "according to feeling" whether the picture is completed.

It often happens that Natasha still makes small changes, or even completely changes the painting again with the help of colors.

E mma Jean Kemp is a British sculptor who creates beautiful figurative sculptures. Kemp works mainly with plasticine to form her sculptures. Later the form is immortalized with metal.

The artist has specialized in the depiction of people. What stands out here: the detailed elaboration of face and hair.In fact, Kemp does not always add these attributes to her sculptures: only recently has she begun to deal with facial features.

Kemp is inspired by many things to create her works - but her family has a special role. Especially her father and the emotions she associates with him seem to be a strong drive to create sculptures like "Turning the Page" or "Lost & Found".

Nevertheless, the artist is also influenced by her respective life situation: being a mother in particular seems to be reflected in her sculptures.

Another important attribute: books.

In many ways, Kemp integrates literary works into her sculptures.

On the other hand, her sculptures serve as bookkeepers - but often books are already contained in the sculpture itself ("Medicine for the Soul" or "Knowledge"). In these works, the concept of "time" also seems to play an important role. Books serve as a help, yet people have to climb the mountain themselves.

Also, motives of gymnasts or dancers can often be seen.

The artist herself practices a Brazilian martial art - an important source for these sculptures. Here the artist is fascinated by the incredible variety of movements and the range of action of the body. Kemp conducts studies of human anatomy and uses anatomy books to represent the human form as accurately as possible. Especially the strength of the body seems to impress the artist.

With the help of figures such as "Pendulum - Gymnast", Kemp depicts "what the body can create".

The special thing about the sculptures of this artist: the rough surface. In fact, this arises due to the work with plasticine. Nevertheless, it is important to Kemp not to create a smooth surface. Finishing the sculptures with metal adds desirable details and shading.

L akshmi Mohanbabu is an Indian artist who creates incredibly diverse works. Lakshmi grew up in Afghanistan, became an architect and eventually an artist.Her passion for mathematics, among other things, led her to create the "Interactions" series: Mohanbabu created a universal symbol that everyone can identify with.

Especially in "Interactions", but also in all other series of this artist, Mohanbabu put a lot of research and knowledge. "Interaction" is based on the principle of the mandala, decorated with mythological and mathematical symbols. In fact, "Interactions" can also be understood as a statement:As one, we are stronger.

Similar messages are hidden in other works of this artist, for example in the portrait series "Colours of Unity". Mohanbabu painted people of different ages, genders and ethnicities in different colors, with metallic effects. The only thing that unites the paintings:The figures depicted are wearing sunglasses. These sunglasses are meant to help the viewer reflect on the world around them and think about the concept underlying "Colours of Unity": the relationship between the oppressor and the oppressed based on skin color.

A special portrait of this series: Icon Iris Apfel.

Mohanbabu's "Expressions" series, inspired by Chinese opera, shows different emotions: Love, Hate, Joy, Sorrow, ... . In fact, "Expressions" consists of opposite emotions and expressions ("Joy" - "Sorrow"). To clarify these emotions, the artist uses the simplest possible faces, represented only with the colors red and black. Attributes on the heads of the depicted figures further clarify the emotions.

People can identify with Lakshmi's diverse works and use them as food for thought.

It is particularly important to the artist to help the viewer understand her works. Songs, detailed texts on her website, her own YouTube channel and even an installation on the largest Suntec screen in the world, in Singapore, serve this purpose.

Their "Interaction Cube", which will be exhibited on the moon in 2022, holds a clear message: "Singularity, Trinity, Duality, Quality, Infinity, Plurality".

Just like all her other artworks, Mohanbabu integrates the concept of Jing and Jang - one cannot exist without the other - in all her artworks. The artist is all about unification. Her works are poignant, beautiful and make us think about prejudices and stigmas.

B ritish artist Mulligan creates beautiful lenticular images, with the help of which she depicts icons such as Marilyn Monroe, David Bowie, Twiggy or Audrey Hepburn.

For the artist, building up knowledge about the respective chosen person is important here - especially the private life. Especially with Monroe the artist seems to connect deep emotions and a certain degree of protective instinct; mainly because of Marilyn Monroe's private life.

In fact, the artist created three images of Marylin - all based on the same photo, different in color scheme. The most important detail: diamond dust. As an anecdote to Monroe's famous singing "Diamonds are a girl's best friend", the artist decided to attach this detail to her paintings.

Beautiful with the painting "Diamonds are a Girl's best friend": Due to the diamond dust, the painting glitters when the light falls on it.

Hours of research are invested before the artist decides on a particular celebrity. For Mulligan, it is important to be able to understand the person in order to be able to portray them in certain facets of their life and with certain - mostly self-perceived - emotions.

Mulligan not only portrays women - Marilyn Monroe, Twiggy, Audrey Hepburn; but also famous male protagonists. In this she finds inspiration in her childhood. The artist grew up with some of the icons, which is probably one of the main reasons to paint them: David Bowie and Freddie Mercury. Nevertheless, it is not (as it is easy to assume with the female celebrities) beauty that makes the artist create her paintings, but rather a deep, emotional connection to the icons.

The titles of the individual works already hint at what the lenticular images might refer to: "The Show Must Go On" (Freddie Mercury), "Aladdin Sane" (David Bowie), ""Beauty Queen" (Audrey Hepburn). In fact, Mulligan uses the titles of her works as "tools" to facilitate viewers' subjective interpretation. Possibly, the artist wishes that viewers can better understand the icons through her paintings, and be encouraged to ask questions and investigate.

What stands out, especially when we take a closer look at celebrities like Audrey Hepburn and Twiggy, is that neither of them considered themselves beautiful.

J ennine Parker is a British artist who creates beautiful sculptures - mostly in bronze. She expresses herself through the female form, although her sculptures are generally shadowy.

The artist often uses dancers as inspiration for the special, curved shape of her sculptures. Here, she first photographs her models, then starts painting and begins the modeling process.

Parker uses a variety of materials - from bronze and wax to porcelain. Her figures are (mostly) cast after the single piece is completed.

Her sculptures show passion, obsession and intensity.

The artist uses very expressive words, as titles for her paintings: "Trust", "Purity", "Empahty", "Affinity", "Peace". Here, not always only a single figure is depicted, sometimes a - presumably - male form is added.

For some time now, the artist's style seems to be changing; she uses increasingly rounded shapes ("Peace", "Trust", "Serenity") and seems to be moving away from "stroke-like" long forms.

Parker often paints pictures and integrates her sculptures into them - "Prosperity" is used particularly often.
She also creates "backgrounds" for her sculptures: usually foaming waves or raging oceans.

Particularly when looking at "Guardian," it's striking which artists Parker draws inspiration from: Henry Moore, Barbara Hepworth, and Peter Hayes. Interesting and beautiful about this piece: the blue details on the wings.

„…es gibt keine Fehler. Es gibt in unserem Leben keine Fehler.“

A nna Razumovskaya, eine russische Künstlerin, die während dem kalten Krieg aufgewachsen ist und nun in Kanada lebt, kreiert wundervolle, impressionistische Bilder von Frauen in … Ballkleidern.

Dabei wird sie von „dem Leben selbst“ inspiriert. Am womöglich wichtigsten für sie ist hierbei Musik, wobei sie alles hören kann – von Jazz, klassischer Musik bis hin zu Pop. Besondere Inspiration erhält sie von Bachs Kompositionen.

Obwohl Razumovskaya sich eine Impressionistin nennt, kann sie ihren Stil dennoch nicht als typisch impressionistisch bezeichnen – sie verwendet Kohle, Wasserfarben, Aquarelle, Öl. Hierbei bevorzugt sie Öl und Kohle und kreiert hiermit ihre wundervollen Bilder – meistens von tanzenden Frauen.

Die Künstlerin legt Wert auf den Grundsatz „Vergangenheit. Gegenwart. Zukunft.“.

Obwohl sie „immer noch lernt“, bemüht sie sich, nur in der Gegenwart zu leben – ohne jedoch die Vergangenheit zu vergessen. Hierbei dient ihre Kunst ihr als Hilfsmittel, um dieses Ziel zu erreichen. Ihrer Meinung nach hilft uns alles Kreative, um in der Gegenwart zu leben. Sollte man dies zu, erlebt man etwas „magisches“.

Besonders gut gefällt mir „Escape into life“. Annas Models sind sich ihrer eigenen Schönheit nicht bewusst. Sie sind starke, feminine Frauen. Die Künstlerin möchte, dass die Welt versteht, wie wundervoll es ist, weiblich zu sein.

Ihr liebstes Subjekt sind Tänzerinnen. Hierbei fügt sie oft Anzeichen von Bewegung in ihre Bilder ein, um ästhetisch schöne „Slow Motion“ darzustellen.

Seit einigen Jahren zeichnet die Künstlerin Blumen. In diesen Bildern sei eine andere Form von Emotionen enthalten. Ein einzelner Strauß kann zu tausend Bildern führen.

Für Anna sind ihr emotionales Leben und ihre Kunst verbunden. Bilder sind … tiefer, sind emotionaler.

„… verspricht einen magischen Schlüssel um die komische Welt um mich herum zu verstehen.“

C aroline Smith malt seit über 40 Jahren Bilder – hauptsächlich Frauen. Dabei lässt sie sich von keinem der aktuellen Kunst-Trends inspirieren sondern konzentriert sich darauf, ihren eigenen Stil weiterzuentwickeln.

Smith stellt die Objekte in ihren Bildern zweidimensional dar, trotzdem wirken diese seltsam menschlich.

Diese Technik macht es für den Betrachter fast unmöglich, die Materialien, mit welchen Smith ihre Bilder malt, herauszufinden.

Es geht ausschließlich um “ … die Nachricht“.

Laut der Künstlerin selbst, hat jede Kleinigkeit, jeder Strich, jedes Symbol in ihren Bildern eine Bedeutung. Aktuell macht sich besonders der Einfluss japanischer Kunst bemerkbar, viele temporäre Werke von Caroline Smith scheinen davon inspiriert zu sein.

Die meisten dargestellten Menschen sollen keine Emotion oder Bewegung zeigen, es geht nicht um den Moment sondern um „die Nachricht“.

Diese Bilder haben einen sehr hohen Abstraktionsgrad, sie besitzen eine unglaubliche Stärke und besitzen den Zuschauer vom ersten Augenblick an.

Ein besonderes Beispiel hierfür ist „Aries“, ein Bild, in dem sich Flammen in Drachen verwandeln.

Obwohl die Bilder schlicht wirken, werden während dem Betrachten zunehmend mehr Details erkennbar.

Die Künstlerin verwendet zunehmend den Komplementärkontrast.

Smith versucht den Stil, in dem ihre Bilder gemalt sind, an frühere Techniken und Ideale anzupassen. Besonders der Einfluss des alten Ägypten, von Höhlenmalerei und dem antiken Griechenland (siehe griechische Vasenmalerei) machen sich bemerkbar.

"... inspiriert von Leben, Bewegung, Atmosphäre."

T essa Campbell Fraser ist eine britische Künstlerin, die Ölgemälde, Wasserfarbenbilder und Bleistiftzeichnungen kreiert. Ihr größter Fokus liegt auf dem Erstellen von Skulpturen.

Die Kunst dieser Künstlerin fokussiert sich hauptsächlich auf Tieren – insbesondere Pferde, Bären und Paarhufer.

Materialien wir Bronze und Wachs werden zum Fertigen dieser Figuren verwendet. Fraser versucht, ihre Werke möglichst lebensecht darzustellen – hierzu gehört auch die Größe. Durch minimale Feinarbeit werden Hörner, Augen, Fell, Schweif und Mähne geformt.

Besonders sind die Skulpturen, bei welchen das Tier nur bis zum Halsansatz zu sehen ist.

Sie symbolisieren unglaubliche Stärke und Kraft, die man automatisch mit den Skulptuen in Verbindung bringt.

Bei ihren Arbeiten lässt sich die Künstlerin von dem antiken Griechenland und Rom, von dem Maler George Stubbs (1724-1806, auch er malte in hohem Ausmaß Pferde; sein berühmtestes Bild: „Whistlejacket“)

und von Marino Marini (1901-1980, er erschuf viele Skulpturen) inspirieren.

Man erkennt diesen Einfluss in fast all ihren Kunstwerken.

In vielen Skulpturen und Bildern werden Tiere und Menschen miteinander verknüpft, bilden eine Einheit („Flying Dream“). Mensch und Tier werden eins und leben im Einklang zusammen („Symbiosis“) und sogar ihre Bewegungen und Verhaltensmuster stimmen sich ab („Polar Dancer“).

Diese lebensechten und realgroßen Skulpturen werden hauptsächlich als „Dekoration für den Garten“ verwendet.

Wunderschön ist die Skulptur „Dolphins“, in der die Delfine über der Skulpturfläche zu schweben scheinen, sie tauchen direkt aus den Wellen auf.

Unglaublich elegant wirkt die Pferdefigur „Estimate“.

"...ein bildlicher Künstler..." -Al Saralis

A l Saralis ist ein britischer Künstler mit griechischen Vorfahren.

Saralis malt sehr lebensecht – bislang hauptsächlich Mädchen und junge Frauen. Immer mehr veröffentlicht der Künstler Bilder von Bäumen, die sein Interesse am Menschen in der Natur und an Veränderungen an der Natur verdeutlichen.

Saralis malt immer wieder dieselben jungen Frauen, möglicherweise befinden sich diese in seinem Umfeld, sind zum Beispiel seine Töchter. Saralis fokussiert sich besonders auf eine Form der „Stillen Bewegung“, oftmals befinden sich die Subjekte in Ruhe, man kann sich zukünftige Bewegungen aber leicht vorstellen.

Immer wieder malt der Künstler geheimnisvolle junge Frauen – also Frauen, die sich so verdecken, dass man sie nicht richtig erkennen kann, oder solche, die die Augen schließen und mithilfe von Gestik und Mimik Geheimnisse verbergen.

Saralis legt besonderen Fokus auf die Haare der jungen Frauen, das Haar ist in diesem Fall das, was die Menschen so lebensecht wirken lässt.

Auch dieser Künstler scheint Menschen zu malen, die Einsamkeit, Sorge und Traurigkeit verkörpern.

Die meisten blicken überrascht, besorgt oder ängstlich. Saralis beschränkt sich nicht nur auf ein Körperteil – er malt den gesamten Körper, Portraits oder sogar Menschen von hinten – diese Bilder sind besonders aussagekräftig.

Bei seinen Arbeiten wird der Künstler von der „klassischen“ Schönheit (Laokoon-Gruppe, Johann Joachim Winkelmanns Schönheitsideal „So wie die Tiefe des Meers allezeit ruhig bleibt, die Oberfläche mag noch so wüten, ebenso zeiget der Ausdruck in den Figuren der Griechen bei allen Leidenschaften eine große und gesetzte Seele.“) inspiriert, diese „ruhige Seele“ kommt auch in seinen Bildern zum Ausdruck.

Saralis‘ Arbeiten sind zeitlos, sie lassen viel Raum für Interpretationen und bringen den Betrachter dazu, mit dem Subjekt zu sympathisieren, es zu verstehen, emotional auf das Bild zu reagieren. Er kreiert etwas wunderschönes, interessantes, spirituelles.

"... um ein STARKES Bild zu erschaffen..."

J ohn Lipsham ist ein britischer Künstler, der in Portsmouth geboren wurde.

Lipsham malt Menschen und Szenen aus seiner Erinnerung. In seinen Teenager - Jahren arbeitete er auf einer Werft in England. Tagtäglich begegneten ihm dort die Oberschicht, trotzem malte er seine Kollegen, Schiffe und tagtägliche, belanglos erscheinende, Ereignisse.

Der Maler benutzt sowohl Öl- als auch Acrylfarbe, meistens sogar gemischt. Lipsham konzentriert sich besonders darauf, Licht und Schatten bestimmte Attribute zeigen zu lassen, besonders mit den Haaren seiner portraitierten Menschen spielt er.

Ich glaube, dass der Künstler die Bilder deshalb so schemenhaft malt, weil er sich nicht mehr exakt an die Menschen, die er malt, erinnert. Sie sind ihm vor langer Zeit begegnet, er hat nur noch eine vage Vorstellung von ihnen.

Lipsham malt hauptsächlich Frauen aus der Oberschicht. Auf der Werft genossen diese Frauen ein unglaubliches Ansehen – man behandelte sie wie Berühmtheiten.

Titel wie “The Blonde…“ oder “The red head…” weisen schon darauf hin, dass John Lipsham aus dem Gedächtnis malt. Anschließend gibt er seinen Bildern genau den Namen, den er selbst für die Person oder das Ereignis in Erinnerung hat – die, meist, auffäligsten Merkmale an dieser Person.

Um den Betrachter davon abzubringen, abgelenkt zu werden, werden Lipsham's Bilder mit einem traditionellen, schlichten Rahmen umfasst.

Vielleicht hat John Lipsham’s Erinnerung die Wirklichkeit von damals verändert. Vielleicht sah „Blonde in the Albany“ nicht wirklich gelangweilt aus, vielleicht trug „Lady in the patternd dress“ keinen roten Lippenstift.

Vielleicht erkennt irgendeine der Damen, die in Lipsham gemalt hat, sich selbst in seinem Portrait und erinnert sich an einen jungen Mann mit außerordentlichem Gedächtnis, in dem mehrere dutzend Leute mit all ihren Details Platz haben.

"...um die Seele des Betrachters zu provozieren..."

K rysia Nowak ist eine britische Künstlerin, die seit Jahrzehnten Portraits malt.

Nowaks Bilder zeigen keine Bewegung, vielmehr halten sie eine bestimmte Stimmung fest. Ein Thema, das viele Bilder enthalten ist Traurigkeit, Isolation. Nowak legt sich nicht auf eine Farbe oder Stimmung fest - ihre Bilder sind unterschiedlich und eigen.

Besonders ist die unkonventionelle Farbgebung und das erstaunliche Festhalten von Emotionen mit nur wenigen Pinselstrichen.

Die Künstlerin scheint Menschen zu studieren und sie zu beobachten. Nur so kann sie einzigartige Momente festhalten und dem Außenstehenden die Gefühle vermitteln.

Besonders ist, dass Krysia mit Öl auf Metallplatten malt. Die Metallbilder werden anschließend mithilfe einer Presse auf das Papier gebracht. Nun werden Details wie beispielsweise Farben hinzugefügt.

Immer wieder erscheinen zwei Tiere in Nowaks Bildern: Tauben und Katzen. Beide sind sehr minimalistisch gemalt. Die Katzen werden sehr vermenschlicht dargestellt, man sieht ihnen die Gefühle direkt an. Die Taube dagegen ist eine fast körperlose Figur ohne Emotionen - möglicherweise soll sie nur als Symbol dienen.

Mir gefällt besonders das tröstliche an diesen Bildern. Die Portraits versuchen, die Menschen zu verstehen, sie in ihrer Verletzlichkeit darzustellen und zu immortalisieren.

Welt im Bruch: Deutschland

G erade habe ich die Ausstellung „Deutschland im Umbruch“ in München gesehen.

Die Ausstellung handelte von den 20er Jahren und war unglaublich vielfältig.

Fotografien, Bleistiftzeichnungen, Ölgemälde, Stiche, Lithographien ... waren unter anderem zu sehen.

Die Themen der Bilder, die Emotionen waren absolut unterschiedlich und unabhängig voneinander. Gegensätze wie Licht und Schatten, Hoffnung, Hass und Freude waren zu sehen.

Manche Künstler wollten sich über die Gesellschaft lustig machen (zum Beispiel durch Suchbilder), andere versuchten sie utopisch oder dystopisch darzustellen.

Besonders der Umgang mit dem Nationalsozialismus und dem Leben während dem Krieg waren interessant.

Der zweite Teil der Ausstellung handelte von den 70er Jahren. Original Poster der Olympischen Spiele von 1972 sowie das Originalmodell der Allianz Arena waren zu sehen.

Übrigens: In Teil zwei konnte man sich auch Lieder von Milli Vanilli („Girl you know it‘s True“) oder Freddie Mercury anhören.

Zusätzlich zu dieser Ausstellung (die übrigens kostenlos zu besichtigen ist) gibt es im Münchner Stadtmuseum noch viele weitere Ausstellungen!

Zu „Arbeiterkind“, August Sander (1876-1964)

Ich liebe die Ruhe und die Ordentlichkeit in diesem Bild.

Wichtig zu bemerken ist, dass das Kind der Arbeiterklasse angehörte, das heißt es war nicht besonders wohlhabend. Das Kind wirkt glücklich, möglicherweise wurde dieses Bild bei einem Familienfest oder beim wöchentlichen Kirchgang aufgenommen.

S I S I - L E B E N & F A M I L I E

Das "Sisischloss" zeigt...

G erade habe ich im Schloss Unterwittelsbach die Ausstellung "Sisi-Ihr Leben Ihre Familie" gesehen. Auf drei Stockwerken wurden mehrere Portraits, Stiche (Wilhelm Gause, "Hofball"), Ölgemälde, Kleider sowie Alltagsgegenstände ausgestellt.

Die Ausstellung bot eine Vielzahl an Entdeckungsmöglichkeiten, wie beispielsweise verschiedene Stationen, Fotoplätze, und Verkleidungsmöglichkeiten.
Das Schloss Unterwittelsbach ist wunderschön und soll die Sommerresidenz von Kaiserin Elisabeth und ihrer Familie gewesen sein.

Die ausgestellten Kunstwerke waren hauptsächlich Stiche, Ölgemälde, Portraits und sogar Fotografien.

Besonders gut gefiel mir der schwarz-weiß Stich Hofball von Wilhelm Gause. Die Szene ist wunderschön dargestellt und lässt mich die Ballatmosphäre direkt fühlen. Was mir auffällt ist, dass man den Ball „von hinten“ sieht, was stark den Eindruck verstärkt, ein Teil des Ganzen zu sein.

Die ausgestellten Kleider (Reisekleider, das berühmte Sternenkleid, ein ungarisches Gala-Kleid,Trauerkleider) waren leider nur Rekreationen (Sisi ließ nach dem Selbstmord ihres Sohnes alle ihre Kleider verbrennen),

sie wurden jedoch durch exakt imitierte Handarbeit nochmal genäht und schon in mehrerem Ausstellungen gezeigt.

Diese Ausstellung ist, für alle, die schonmal im Museum der spanischen Hofreitschule waren, eine perfekte Ergänzung.

Außerdem wurden Turngeräte von Sisi und ihre Schönheitsroutine ausgestellt ;)

ICH WAR HIER!

G erade habe ich die Spot On Ausstellung im Museum Brandhorst, München, besucht.
Lies weiter um über Kunstwerke von Andy Warhol, Kara Walker, Arthur Jafa, Ed Rush, Jacqueline Humphries und viele weitere zu hören ;)

Grundsätzlich handelte diese Ausstellung von Büchern. Eine Sammlung von Büchern. Aber eben nicht nur Bücher. Kunst über Bücher (dargestellt mit Büchern ;) ). Werke wie „New Book“ und „Old Book back then“ (beide Ed Ruscha) stellen, für mich, den Prozess, ein Buch zu lieben und es immer wieder zu lesen dar.

Die Werke dieser Ausstellung versuchen, die historische und zukünftige Bedeutung von Büchern zu verdeutlichen.
Sie versuchen, Emotionen zu zeigen, und sie zum Leben zu bringen (Kara Walker: Freedom, 1997).

Seitdem das erste Buch geschrieben worden ist, oder besser: Seit der erste Steinzeitmensch an eine Höhlenwand gemalt hat um zu sagen „Ich war hier“, wurde das menschliche Bedürfnis, zu archivieren, sich auszutauschen und das Verlangen zu lernen, deutlich.

Später halfen andere Arten von Kunst, wie Fotografieren, Haute Couture, das traditionelle malen, schreiben und ja lesen den Menschen, Emotionen auszudrücken, zu lernen und ihr Bedürfnis mithilfe dieser Methoden Kunst zu kreieren.

Aber diese Ausstellung handelte nicht nur von der historischen und zukünftigen Bedeutung von Büchern, Werke von, beispielsweise, Kara Walker und Arthur Jafa passen zu der „Black lives matter“ Bewegung.

Passend zum Thema: "Mustard Race Riot" von Andy Warhol (Nicht in "SPOT ON" aber in "Forever Young")

Zusätzlich sind Bücher ein Medium, durch das wir unseren politische Standpunkt (Lawrence Weiner and Paul Chan) ausdrücken und unser Handeln reflektieren können. Bücher helfen uns, zu verstehen, zu lernen und unsere eigenen Meinung zu bilden, indem sie uns verschiedene Argumente und Meinungen vorlegen.

An dieser Ausstellung gefielen mir die futuristischen Werke besonders gut, Details wie ein „What‘s a Kardashian?“ Buch als kleiner Teil eines größeren Kunstwerks.

Ich mochte die (Selbst-) Ironie und den Sarkasmus aber auch die Direktheit und das Infragestellen von Kultur und Gesellschaft.

Besonders Ed Ruscha brachte mich dazu, nachzudenken und zu hinterfragen.

Neu im Museum Brandhorst...

G erade war ich in Brandhorsts "Forever Young" Jubiläums Ausstellung.

Unter anderem wurde Kunst von Andy Warhol, Cy Wombly und Jeff Koons ausgestellt.

Waren sie jemals in einem IKEA?

Nur im IKEA Restaurant?

Jemals im IKEA online Shop Möbel gekauft? Oder vielleicht Kunst?

Dann haben sie sicher schon einmal ein Warhol gesehen.

Ihr Stil? Dann besuchen sie Forever Young, um ein Original mit Liz Taylor zu sehen ;)

Waren sie in der Grundschule? Ich werde es einfach mal annehmen. Mochten sie es, ihren eigenen Keith Hering zu entwerfen?

Sehen sie Originale in Forever Young.

Mochten sie den Film "The sixth sense"? Dann werden ihnen Womblys Kunstwerke sicher gefallen (hier mache ich nur Spaß ;) )

Mein liebstes Stück in dieser Ausstellung war definitiv “Crazy” von Louise Lawler (und es ist möglich, dass mir “Winters’s Passage” von Wombly gefallen hat).

Beide Werke vermittelten mir ein beruhigendes und friedliches Gefühl. Ich mochte die Farben und die Stimmung, die die Künstler mithilfe von ihren Werken erschaffen haben.

Ich war gerade in der „Thierry Mugler Couturisseme“ Ausstellung in der Kunsthalle München.

Die Ausstellung bestand aus VI verschiedenen Akten, wovon jeder einzelne Akt eine oder mehrere Kollektionen zusammenfasste.

Wer war nochmal Mugler? Die Ikone, der jetzt schon fast historische Modedesigner? Claudia Schiffer? Linda Evangelista? Naomi Campbell?

Der Designer, dessen Klamotten jetzt meist nur noch auf Instagram Accounts über Models der 90er gesehen werden?

Oder bei der Met Gala?

Jemals Too Funky gehört? Alien gerochen?

Nein?

Dann sehen sie sich besser die Fotos meiner Favoriten an, denn diese Klamotten werden sie jahrelang nicht vergessen.

Mich persönlich faszinierte die Art und Weise wie Mugler gedacht hat, es wirkt so, als hätte er die Klamotten nicht entworfen, damit sie getragen werden, sondern nur, um seine Vision in Realität zu sehen.

Natürlich hat er auch Pret-a-Porter Kollektionen entworfen, aber ich glaube, nur, um seine extravaganten, außergewöhnlichen Kreationen finanzieren zu können.

Ich mochte seine Idee hinter der Kunst und seine unglaubliche Kreativität.

Vor allem gefiel mir die Intensität, der Mut und die Gewagtheit der Kleider.

Couture selbst würde hergestellt, um dem Käufer das Gefühl zu geben, besonders zu sein. Es wird für dich hergestellt.

Und ich wette, Menschen, die Mugler Couture getragen haben, fühlten sich sehr besonders... ;)
